Playlist 14.03.04 (10:07 pm)

[I've left this here because it's fun to see what I had when I was putting the playlist up...]
Welcome to the live Utility Fog playlist for another week. I think I'm all settled, so we'll start with a whole lot of lovely old idm stuff and then see where we go from there, hey? New Squarepusher this week, lots of old stuff and some newer breakcore, we've got it all.

Stereolab - Refractions in the Plastic Pulse (Autechre's Feebate mix) [Duophonic/EastWest Japan]
Autechre - Draun Quarter [Warp]
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol II CD2 Tk6 [Warp] {This album uses a complicated procedure to link images to track numbers; way back in 1994, the nascent idm-list on hyperreal created the SAW II FAQ, which helpfully names track 2:6 as "siding nails", for what it's worth}
Jesus Jones - Zeroes & Ones (Aphex Twin Reconstruction (1) Mix) [Food Records]
Global Communication vs Chapterhouse - Alpha Phase from Blood Music: Pentamerous Metamorphosis [Dedicated]
Squarepusher - Tundra [Rephlex]
Squarepusher - Menelec [Warp]
Si Begg - Third Wave V.2 [Spymania Allstars]
Squarepusher - District Line II [Warp]
Emotional Joystick - Patch32 [Zod Records]
µ-Ziq - Hasty Boom Alert [Hut]
Squarepusher - Rat/P's and Q's [Warp]
µ-Ziq - Midwinter Log [Hut] {Sorry about the gapping and skipping, folks! The wonders of technology...}
Squarepusher - Square Window [Warp]
Red Snapper - Get Some Sleep Tiger (Plaid remix) [Planet µ via Hut]
Squarepusher - Iambic 9 Poetry [Warp]
Plaid - Angry Dolphin [Clear Records]
AFX - Laughable Butane Bob [Warp]
Nonplace Urban Field - Plane Spotting [Incoming!]
Pluramon - tel.bell (remix by Atom™) [Mille Plateaux]
General Magic - Tyrell [Mego]
Pure - ivan [Mego]
World's End Girlfriend - air reason [Current Records - can't find link! They no longer exist...]
Pimmon - Under Hiding Browsing [Staalplaat]
Tuk - German Holidays [(K-RAK-K)3 by way of Wire Magazine]
Lali Puna - Small Things [Morr Music]

Heh. The SAWII remark make me have another look at the sleeve and I still can't make head nor tail of it. It reminds me of the Peter Gabriel album naming scheme, you know, the "Wet Windscreen"/"Tearing Hands"/"Melting Face". IV might've been named "Scary Robotic Head" or something if the Yanks hadn't made Peter give it a title, hence "Security".

  2. Peter Says:

*laff* And indeed I've played something off the "Melting Face" album once upon a time on UFog! Great stuff.

In a few weeks (a couple? Who knows?) we'll be web-streaming, so people like you, Graham, off in Albury, will be able to listen in too! Hurrah. So what's ya new blog going to be called, huh?

  3. Graham Says:

Ohhh, that would be telling. I still haven't got the new domain snapped up, I might let on when I do so...

A Night Of Cut Ups / Mash Style & Sampling

Inspired by the Literary Invention of the Cut Up by William Burroughs & Brion Gysin Over 50 Years ago

Half a century ago Burroughs foretold the rise of control methods employed by current democratic governments, the virus culture, mainstream homosexual culture, the drug culture and much more.

We celebrate one aspect of his artistic discoveries. The cut up method engineered by Burroughs and Gysin working in tandem and employed in his breakthrough novel "The Naked Lunch" and now part of the mainstream... think of hip hop, dance music and even most modern rock music existing in its current form without employing the template they used.

    Appearing Will Be.

DSICO ( That No Talent Hack) - Australia's Mash Up king who's already played his sets to acclaim in New York, LA, San Francisco & Moscow this year. He's also created a stir at this year's Miami dance conference with New York dj's playing his creations to appreciative crowds

Secret Squirrell - One of the Vibe Tribe's most popular dj's returns to the decks and will playing the works of Throbbing Gristle, Pyschic TV and other WSB lovers.

The Goulburn Poultry Fanciers Society - This act part of the System Corrupt underground collective will be making a rare appearance with a 3 at the turntables plunderphonics set. This'll be fierce.
