Wehey! Lots of new goodness tonight! New mini-album/EP thing from Anticon stalwart Why?, collaborator in Hymie's Basement with Fog... New Minotaur Shock from his debut album for 4ad, new Lali Puna rarities and newness in various forms, and a stunning new album from drill'n'bass-revivalist The Flashbulb, who moves effortlessly from breakcore to acoustic quasi-classical and all sorts of hybrids in between in his kirlian selections - highly recommended, as is all the other new stuff this week... Hymie's Basement - 21st Century Pop Song [Lex Records]

Tonight, I bring you some UFog exclusives, including new solo material from Gauche drummer Alon Ilsar under the name Foley. A few new bits on vinyl, and starting the show with a new Mara Carlyle track, "covering" the beautiful "Dido's Lament" from Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, which has the distinction of being the oldest English opera (first performed 1689, folks!) Our little nostalgia-trip for tonight will be courtesy of the incomparable Uwe Schmidt, best known as Atom Heart or Atom™ - couple of remixes and a cover... Mara Carlyle - Dido's Lament (Remember Me) [Accidental Records]

Last night of supporter drive tonight! I've got a whole lot of new stuff to scatter through the show, but we all know that's not all that Utility Fog's about... Newness from A Silver Mt Zion tonight, among other things, plus the new Wire Tapper CD for subscribers to The Wire... Kid 606 - Phoenix Riddim [Wichita courtesy The Wire]

email: utilityfog at frogworth dot com bsky Mastodon Utility Fog teeters on the cusp between acoustic and electronic, organic and digital. Constantly changing and rearranging, this aural cloud of nanotech consumes genres and spits them out in new forms. Whether cataloguing the jungle resurgence, tracking the ups and downs of noise and drone, or unearthing the remnants of glitch and folktronica, all is contextualised within artist & genre histories for a fulfilling sonic journey. Since all these genre names are already pretty ridiculous, we thought we'd coin a new one. So "postfolkrocktronica" it is. Wear it. Now available: free "Live on Utility Fog" downloads!
