Tonight… Burning Star Core! And other stuff… but… BxC!!!! Very exciting to be able to present this special.
C Spencer Yeh’s works are scattered in between lots of other goodies tonight, including a bunch of stuff I brought back from a visit to Melbourne this weekend. Strangely in Melbourne I picked up some amazing releases by Newcastle’s Crab Smasher; also the first EP by Melbourne postrockers Radiant City and a lovely EP by “Guy Blackman in Japan”…
Also on the new release tip, freak(ish) folk from Here We Go Magic, and gorgeous guitartronica from Northerner. I played a track from Au‘s first album, being a bit slow on the uptake with these guys. More, including the 2008 album, next week.
The aaron martin vs part timer collaboration, which I was given a promo of (most of) ages ago by part timer, is finally out on the fabulous mobeer imprint, and it’s a real doozy. And those Thom Yorke remixes are finally out on CD.
We’ve got amazing authentic-sounding bluegrass/Piedmont blues from Charlie Parr, the gorgeous cello-pop experimentalism of Arthur Russell (another Melbourne find), Odd Nosdam‘s new album of hip-hop for skaters (it’s really good) and yes, heaps of Burning Star Core.
